Start with measurements, not age alone
Students of the same age can need different garment proportions. Prepare a size chart using measurable jacket and trouser dimensions and explain how parents or staff should select a size. Separate approximate age guidance from actual garment measurements.
Use the academy’s existing fit feedback where available. Ask which sizes are commonly too long, restrictive or difficult to keep in stock, then make those points part of the development discussion.
Review comfort and practical use
Check the jacket’s overlap, sleeve reach and overall length, along with trouser rise and waistband fit. Have the intended training movements considered during sample review rather than approving only a flat photograph.
Avoid adding unnecessary loose or decorative components. Discuss construction and any applicable children’s product requirements with a qualified reviewer for the intended sales market. No product-safety certification is implied by these images.
Keep youth branding readable
Scale logos and patches to the smaller garment panels. Important artwork should remain clear without covering a seam or creating an awkward stiff area. Confirm which academy marks are needed on every gi and which vary by program.
If belts are ordered with the uniform, specify them independently by rank-system requirements, length and color. Do not assume an adult belt assortment covers the academy’s youth program.
Make the order easy for staff to distribute
Provide a size-by-color quantity list and define how uniforms should be grouped or labeled. If each kit includes a jacket, trousers and belt, record all three components and how they should be counted.
Ask for the actual MOQ, sample process, price basis and schedule for the youth design. Final sizing and product requirements must be approved before a bulk-order commitment.
