How to prepare a tech pack for custom BJJ gis and fightwear
A tech pack is the instruction file a factory builds your product from. A clear one means fewer sample rounds and fewer surprises in bulk.

A tech pack for custom fightwear should include flat sketches with front and back views, a measurement chart for each size, the fabric and trims, artwork files with placement and sizes, colors, labels and packaging instructions, and the quantity per size. You do not need a full tech pack to start with Combatwear Factory: a reference garment or clear photos plus your artwork are enough for a free digital mockup and a physical sample.

Flat sketches
Front, back and side views of the garment with seams, panels, pockets, drawcords and closures marked. For gis, show the collar, cuffs, pant waist and any reinforcement points.
Measurements and grading
A measurement chart for every size (body length, chest, sleeve, waist, inseam and other key points) with the tolerance you accept. If you are grading from one sample size, say which size is the base.
For cotton gis, agree how shrinkage is handled before you publish a size chart for your customers.
Fabric and trims
Fabric type and weight, the weave for gis, colors, thread, drawcords, elastic, and zippers or hook-and-loop for shorts. If you do not know the exact weight, describe the feel you want and send a reference garment; the weight is confirmed in the quotation.
Artwork and placement
Vector artwork files, the width and height of each logo, its position measured from a fixed point (for example 3 in. below the collar seam), and the decoration method: embroidery, patch, woven label or sublimation. Give color references, with Pantone codes if you have them.
Labels and packaging
Neck or waist label, size label, care and content label, hang tags, polybag or retail packaging, and carton marks. Garments sold in the US need labels showing fiber content, country of origin and your company name or RN.
Quantities and size split
Quantity per design and color, split by size. Minimums are 30 pieces per design for gis, spats, rash guards and shorts, with sizes mixable.
No tech pack yet?
Send a reference garment or clear photos, your artwork and the quantity. We send a free digital mockup, then make a physical sample in 7–10 working days (the fee is typically USD 100–200 and is credited against bulk). Your approved sample becomes the reference for bulk production.

Tech pack: frequently asked questions
Do I need a tech pack to order custom gis?
No. A reference gi or clear photos plus your artwork are enough to start. We send a free digital mockup and then make a physical sample.
What file format should artwork be in?
Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) work best. A high-resolution PNG can work for sublimation; embroidery needs clean shapes, so vector is safer.
What if I have no design specification at all?
Our ODM route develops the design with you from your references, and the approved physical sample becomes the reference for bulk.
Who owns my designs?
You do. Your designs stay exclusive to you, and we sign an NDA on request.
